Building homes for rent to expand her ever-growing portfolio, Sue engages Nest Design every time to get the functionality and aesthetic right and to appeal to the target market. Each home is different; this time we sought luxurious appeal on a budget. Shimmering mosaic tiles feature in dark moody tones, bronze and aubergine hues highlight the earthy grey palette. Nest Design custom designed the kitchen, butler’s pantry, wardrobes, bathrooms, study, entry and laundry and included elegant surfaces throughout and cleverly concealed LED lighting features in the bathrooms. Needless to say, the house was leased within days and it’s on to the next project!

This original family home accommodates a growing family and the floor plan was not suited to their needs. Nest Design was engaged to formulate various spatial plans to enhance the usability of the space. The walls dividing the kitchen and living areas stunted the space, creating dark spaces and obstructing the flow. To rectify this, we redesigned the kitchen and living areas to create an efficient, purposeful, open plan space filled with natural light. What was once a grouping of dark, pokey rooms has become a functional, uncluttered, airy and usable space which features timeless, elegant surfaces throughout for all the family to enjoy. this gorgeous family, warm and welcoming, is a busy bunch of six and had moved from a small home to this magnificent house. their brief involved needing to fill the house with furnishings and accessories which would not only suit the home’s aesthetic and their lifestyle, but last the test of time. from the moment we met the owners, a mutual respect was formed and we relished the opportunity to source, select and specify astute artworks, quality furnishings, custom rugs, elegant tiles, designer lighting and embellishments. extraordinary artworks are showcased such as an enormous customised mesh ribbon sculpture and an original beauty by Charles Blackman. custom joinery is featured, cleverly designed and implemented. we were also engaged to project manage the assignment, from purchase to placement. once a sparse house, it is now a welcoming home; each space a showcase of gorgeous, elegant furnishings and special pieces reflective of the owners’ astute yet informal nature. take the tour…

mr & mrs lees are a notable couple who invited nest design to revitalize their country home. at the forefront of design for its time, circa 1970, the architecturally designed house is prized upon a hilltop surrounded by eucalypt natives and farmland that stretches as far as the eye can see. the call was for integrity; nest specified a calm neutral palette with bold accents resulting in elegance beyond reproach. Dulux® Pebbles and Self Destruct set the mood while Luck stands valiant and the garage doors boast a metallic special effect by Resene®. it was truly an honour to work with such a divine couple and we are thankful for the opportunity (and the high tea, too)!

teaming with this busy family to reflect their definitive aesthetic happily resulted in this fresh modern palette. externally, contemporary colours demand attention while internally, blonde timber and pale leather Scandinavian furnishings rest comfortably at the forefront of eucalypt green feature walls which draw nature's backdrop in. in addition to the natural timber highlights and colour palette, feature highlights were carefully selected to create a relaxed & informal ambiance; elegant copper wall lights feature in the master bedroom while bold wallpaper features in the teenager's retreat. welcome home!

designing a duplex for investment whilst adhering to budget need not restrict quality and ambiance. working on this project with a dynamic client proved to be a fun and rewarding experience. needless to say, both properties were leased prior to completion.

using the rural locale as a rich source of inspiration, a scheme was divised to accommodate this busy family of five. primary elements including warm timber floors and crisp white joinery harmonise the dark stone benchtops and the wowing splash back. bathed in sunlight, the interior wall colour selected is moody; softening the interior, melding with the landscape. a delight to design and a pleasure to reside.
